I was born and raised in Yonkers, New York, and have the accent to prove it. My family is fun-loving and sometimes loud.

I’m a former reading specialist who taught kids how to read in unique ways.

My books are filled with heart and humor. My characters are quirky, imperfect, and kind.

I live with my husband and demanding tabby in a bucolic town in New York’s Hudson Valley where the beauty of every season takes my breath away.

I remember experiencing every season of my childhood  with delight!

- Hearing the cheerful music of the ice cream truck that parked on my street each summer

- Riding my super cool purple Sting-Ray bicycle

- Watching my mother make Italian waffle cookies called Pizzelles

A few not so wonderful memories:

- School Shoes shopping — My mom was more concerned with them fitting properly than how they looked. And boy, were they ugly

- Squeezing a tube of extra strength glue into my eye — my lid sealed shut and we thought I’d lose my vision. Luckily, the doctor was able to dissolve the glue

- Canceling my 13th birthday party because I woke up with chicken pox

A Childhood Confession...
One day, I watched a cartoon where a bunny snacked on a bar of soap. It looked so yummy. Luscious bubbles floated out of his little bunny mouth. So I offered (forced) my obliging little sister a few nibbles of Ivory soap. She didn't think it tasted delicious at all. She threw up.
